摘要
Aim:The Czech translation of the Epworth Sleepiness Scale is used to assess daytime sleepiness at the majority of sites concerned with sleep-disordered breathing. The aim of this study was to determine psychometric properties of the Czech version of this questionnaire. Patients and methods:The Czech version of the Epworth sleepiness scale was presented to 112 patients examined at the ENT department of the 3rd Medical Faculty and University Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady for suspected sleep-disordered breathing and who had the limited polygraphy apnea-hypopnea index greater than or equal to five. Internal consistency of the Czech version of the questionnaire using Cronbach's alpha and test-retest reliability (reproducibility of the test) were determined, and the patient group was compared with a control group (74 medical students). Results: Cronbach's alpha was set at alpha = 0.808452, the resulting value of the correlation coefficient between the total score ofthe test and re-test was r = 0.968550, the results of the two-sample t-test, comparing the test results for both groups were t = 6.3949 and p value of 0.001. Conclusion:The Czech version of the Epworth sleepiness scale showed good psychometric properties that allow its use in routine clinical practice and research.
