This paper discusses possible connections between quite different and partly rather remote disciplines such as hyper-dimensional sphere-packing lattices, superstring theory and the Cantorian-fractal spacetime approach to particle physics. Furthermore, relations to fractional diffusion, Nagasawa's diffusion, quantum chaos and fractal gravity are briefly considered. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
