摘要
This paper is proposed a system to control traffic based on its density. Traffic congestion is one of the major issues which we face in our daily life. The population is increasing, the resources are decreasing, and as a result of which, the technology is getting better. This technology can be used to control traffic congestion and it can pave its way for the construction of a "smart city". Red light delays are one of the causes of traffic congestion. The main objective of this paper is to propose a sensor-based technique which can act like an automaton. It reduces the workload of the traffic police. The model has four sensors placed at all the sides of a four-way path. These sensors are used for counting the vehicles which use roadways. The sensors used are IR sensors. The sensors send the information to the microcontroller which is mounted on the Arduino UNO board. The controller decides the flashing time of the subsequent lights. Handling overcrowding in urban traffic through coming new generation by artificial intelligence techniques is an important research zone. Various models and approaches have been developed utilizing soft computing techniques to handle this issue. Major soft computing approaches for this object are neural network and genetic algorithms and some more.
