摘要
In the second part of this experimental investigation, different methods and measures to protect a sealing system with radial shaft seals (RSS) from shaft wear are presented and discussed. In total four different mechanisms to reduce or avoid shaft wear were identified. These measures have different driving mechanisms and range from operating conditions, the elastomer compound towards the lubricant and respectively its additive content. Shaft wear was also examined in the tribologically equivalent system of radial shaft seals. Under similar conditions as in Part I, shaft wear was reduced to a minimum or was completely prevented. In order to understand the tribological processes, the tribological experiment is connected to a detailed surface and thin film analysis.
