摘要：
After a brief discussion of the necessity to consider, in addition to the reduction of wave heights in the sheltered area, further aspects of the hydraulic performance when developing and designing new coastal structures for the protection against wave action. Examples from selected research studies performed in the last years by Leichtweiss-Institute are presented in order to illustrate the development of non-conventional structures with substantially improved hydraulic performance as compared to their conventional counterparts.
