Pattern equation method for solving problems of diffraction of electromagnetic waves by axially symmetric dielectric scatterers

摘要
A new efficient method is proposed for solving 3D problems of diffraction of electromagnetic waves by a single dielectric body of arbitrary shape. The method offers a high rate of convergence. The method is applied to the problem of scattering by axially symmetrical bodies, and the data are presented that illustrate the convergence rate of the computation algorithm for bodies of different shapes. A possibility is studied to model the scattering characteristics for perfectly absorbing (black) bodies. The Ufimtsev theorem on the ratio of the cross-sections of perfectly reflecting and black bodies is numerically tested. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
