摘要：
This article deals with a visit to technical institutes (IUTs) in France in order to evaluate their chemistry programmes. Special attention is given to the manner in which these institutes handle laboratory practicals. Details of the course content for the various options in chemistry are given and the programmes are discussed within the context of: existing diploma courses at South African technikons.
