摘要
In this work tangential velocity and pressure field have been calculated for a lamb-oseen vortex. The maximum tangential velocity as a function of time has also been calculated. Moreover, effects of time and core radius on velocity and pressure profile have been analyzed. The effects of variation of density, viscosity and circulation on the velocity of vortex have also been discussed and different combinations of these parameters have been plotted using computer codes and MATLAB. The Navier strokes equations in polar coordinates have been used for the derivation of velocity and pressure field. Similarity solution has also been derived for the velocity of the vortex. The graphs have helped us to observe the change in behavior of tangential velocity of an oseen-vortex as different parameters are changed. Three mediums have been analyzed i-e air, water and blood. The calculation of pressure field has also been validated through experimental results. For this purpose, the forced vortex apparatus has been used and medium selected is water. The pressure field calculated would also help us in studying the variations of pressure as a function of time and radius. The expression derived for the maximum tangential velocity would help us in understanding the decay of tangential velocity with time and core radius and would allow us to calculate the maximum tangential velocity using any given system parameters.
