摘要
This study evaluated the influence of attitudes and beliefs towards antipsychoticson adherence, and aimed to understand how satisfaction with information impacts adherence in first-episode psychosis. Fifty randomly selected out-patients attending the COAST Early Intervention service completed a survey comprised of the Selwood Compliance Scale, Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire, and the Satisfaction with Information about Medicines Scale. Thirty-four percent of patients reported non-adherence to antipsychotic medication, and they were significantly younger than adherent patients. Adherent patients were more satisfied with medication information than non-adherent patients (65.7% and 34.3% respectively), suggesting that providing better information about antipsychotics may improve adherence.
