Dual Band Microstrip Patch Antenna with U-shaped Slot and Parasitic Patches for Multiple Applications

摘要
The paper presents a design of a single kite-shaped patch antenna with a U-shaped slot, parasitic elements, and a partial ground plane. The size of the antenna is 20mm*18mm*1.5mm. It uses annealed copper as the conductor for the patch and the ground plane and FR4 as the substrate, which has an electrical permittivity of 4.3 and a loss tangent of 0.025. The antenna operates in two different frequency bands, 3.6 GHz to 6.1 GHz and 9.4 GHz to 11.9 GHz. It has a peak gain of 3.08dBi and radiation efficiency of 83%. The antenna is suitable for applications in the portions of S-Band, which extends from 2 GHz to 4 GHz and C-Band which lies in the range of 4 GHz to 8 GHz, particularly for n79 5G band (4700 MHz) and 5GHz Wi-Fi. It also covers a portion of the X-Band (8 GHz - 12 GHz), generally helpful for radar applications. The article presents the simulation results of the obtained return loss plot, efficiencies, and radiation patterns.
