摘要
The purpose of this study is to examine the detective effect of DIAGNOdent(TM) on crystal size of apatite in human dentin. Ten tooth crowns of freshly extracted human teeth were employed in this study. Each crown was cut horizontally into 2mm thickness, and the dentin plates were used as specimens. Then, each dentin specimen surface was measured by means of DIAGNOdent(TM), and was subjected to X-ray diffractometry (XRD) to identify the crystal phase, and to evaluate the crystallinity. After the XRD measurements, apatite crystal size was calculated from the XRD pattern. Then, the value number measured by DIAGNOdent(TM) and the crystal size of the same specimen were compared respectively, and the correlation between them was statistically analyzed. The results of the present study suggest that there was significant correlation between the value numbers of DIAGNOdent(TM) and the crystal sizes, especially, the crystal size of c-axis in dentin.
