The essay traces in Giacomo Leopardi's Zibaldone one of the main theoretical subtexts of Alberto Caracciolo's philosophy. Specifically, through a textual and comparative analysis of some passages dedicated to nihilism, I will show how the Leopardian nothingness constitutes for Caracciolo a moment of foundation of being, aimed at the synthetic realization of the dialectical relationship by the knowing subject between poiesis and noesis, between the religious nothingness and the imperative of the eternal.
