摘要
This work discusses the need of a weather detection mode for an airborne Sense & Avoid Radar. To achieve the required detection range while using a medium power semiconductor-transmitter it is necessary to use a pulse compression technique. As precipitation areas are volumetric targets the sidelobe level must be minimized to avoid creating ghost targets. Therefore suited waveforms and filter designs are evaluated with the goal of minimizing the sidelobe level. Finally, a promising technique for designing mismatched filters is proposed and illustrated using an example.
