Efficiency of the Textile and Clothing Industry in Poland and Spain

The purpose of this paper is to compare the levels of efficiency of Polish and Spanish textile and clothing firms. The analyses were based on firm-level accounting data for the time period 1998-2001. Interestingly, for the period analysed we did not find any statistically significant differences between the efficiency of Polish and Spanish textile clothing firm. The general result of this study shows that firms in both countries are, on average, relatively highly efficient in their production processes. The efficiency score reaches a level of 86%.
