Characteristics of a mercury substituent inhibitor in alkaline manganese dioxide/zinc batteries

摘要
The efficiency of composite nonpoisonous composite inhibitor (HSJ) as a substitute for mercury in alkaline manganese/zinc cells was investigated. The inhibition efficiency of HSJ for zinc in alkaline solution was identical with that of 4% Hg. The adsorption and desorption processes of HSJ on the zinc surface were reversible with variation of electrode potential. The composite inhibitor HSJ performed well as a corrosion inhibitor in place of mercury in alkaline manganese dioxide/zinc batteries.
