Study on emission characteristics of a methanol-biodiesel blends fuelled diesel engine

摘要
This work inspects the effect of methanol inclusion to palm oil Biodiesel (P100) in a diesel engine to view its effect on emission parameters. Three fuel samples were prepared with different concentrations (95% P100 + 5% methanol (P95M5) and 90% P100 + 10% methanol (P90M10)) and diesel. Experimental results showed that the CO and NOX emission are reduced by 1.1-1.4% and 3.7-4.4% of palm oil-methanol samples compared to neat P100. Further, the introduction of P95M5 and P90M10 in the diesel engine reduces the emissions. Emissions from P100, P95M5 and P90M are less than diesel at all loads.
