Monocelsian formation in the SrO•Al2O3•2SiO2 glass

摘要
Celsian glass-ceramics with the SrO·Al2O3·2SiO2 (SA2S) composition form monocelsian and hexacelsian phases at high temperatures. The monocelsian phase formation process is studied by looking at the crystallization and/or phase transformation of the material by differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction. Both the metastable hexaceldian and stable monocelsian phases formed together at around 1032 °C, with the hexacelsian transforming to monocelsian at around 1184 °C. Thus, phase-pure monocelsian in the SA2S glass can be obtained by heating at around 1100 °C for 1 hour or 1184 °C heating for only a short time.
