Volumetric flow measurements with a plenoptic high-speed camera

For the investigation of complex, highly dynamic flow processes such as, e.g., the fuel injections in combustion engines, flow measurement system with a high data rate are required. In order to achieve a high data rate, i.e. a large number of voxel within a three-dimensional measurement volume in combination with a high measurement rate, a light field high-speed camera is developed and used for a frequency modulated Doppler global velocimeter (FM-DGV). The light field evaluation allows the 3d reconstruction of the measurement volume from each recorded image. The measurement system is initially applied for two simultaneously observed measurement planes. As a result, the investigation of an unsteady spray flow is presented.
