The creative thinking oriented instructional strategy for the course of mechanical product design and manufacturing

摘要
The purpose of the research was to utilise creative thinking methods with the engineering students to design and produce mechanical products. In order to accomplish this purpose, several methods were used. A document review was first conducted to determine the instructional strategy for the course. Second, an experimental research was conducted on a selected class by using the creative thinking methods. Finally, a survey method was executed to the controlled group and experimental group, and the attitude and the achievements for the course were measured. From the results, several conclusions were made. The score of the experimental group in the Torrance test of creative thinking was significantly higher than the control group. The other findings included the fundamental knowledge and skills to mechanical design and manufacturing were correlated to the achievement of the courses. The measurement of the creative thinking ability was difficult and needed to be developed with more efforts from the instructors in the engineering faculty.
