摘要
Meeting the world's growing demand for affordable energy requires the development and deployment of a range of advanced technologies. Technology is increasingly important as hydrocarbon resources become more difficult to locate and produce. To enable economically attractive developments, all field aspects must be addressed including: drilling, production design options and operations. This approach is illustrated by recent applications of materials technology throughout the production chain. Items highlighted include: well completions and flow line materials optimizations, materials specification and procurement, and weldments for fatigue-critical service and strain-based pipeline designs.
