Wavelet approach for structural damage assessment

摘要
In this paper, the characteristics of multi-scale and bandpass filter for the wavelet transformation are addressed. A wavelet-based approach is proposed for structural non-linear damage identification based on these characteristics. The dynamic signal is filtered by the variant scales bandpass filters. In the case of abrupt damages, the occurrence of damage and the moment when it occurs can be clearly determined in detail through the changes of the time-frequency signal in the variant bands. Simulation data were generated for a multi-story frame structure, which demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach.
