摘要：
To explain how to use VRML in virtual city construction, the authors review main characteristics of virtual city, assess a number of effective programming languages applied on the Web 3D, discuss the basic functions of VRML and the basic frame of virtual world based on VRML, give an application instance of virtual city scene and show a lot of experiences. In the case study, Cortona VRML Client plug-in can be used to display the virtual city, and the roaming can be realized at any angle and in any way by clicking mouse. At last the authors summarize that VRML is the most hopeful language currently to becoming the basic frame of constructing virtual city.
