摘要
The detailed structure of polyrotaxane (PR) in solution by using contrast variation small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) was investigated. The scattering function of PR was decomposed into partial scattering functions of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and α-cyclodextrins (CD) and the conformation of PEG in PR and the spatial distribution of CDs on PEG was determined. The results show that the scattering curves of d-PR are convex downward, while those of h-PR are convex upward. It is also found that the volume fraction of CD in a PR is 2.4 times as larger as that of PEG. The cross-term for PR is positive and has a magnitude between the magnitudes of the self-terms. The findings obtained by SANS with contrast variation are found to be the first evidence of CDs in PR dispersed randomly along the chain in solution.
