Optical sensing of volatile organic compounds using metalloporphyrins Langmuir-Blodgett films

摘要
The sensing elements for detection of volatile organic compounds (VOC) must demonstrate a high sensitivity, stability and wide selectivity. This paper reports the modification of surface morphology to improve the sensitivity of n-tetraphenyl porphine manganese (III) chloride thin film to detect saturated vapor of ethanol. The modification of the surface was performed by annealing the film at three different temperatures 50, 100 and 150degreesC. It was found that the surface morphology of the film affected the sensing sensitivity and the optimum response was found for the film which has been annealed at the temperature of 50degreesC.
