TRUTH AND FALSEHOOD, REFLECTIONS ABOUT THE AUTHENTICITY PROCESS

The author proposes that truth and falsity are descriptive parameters of the quality of an object, while authenticity is a process that continuously organizes itself in the therapeutic field and is what makes an object either true or false. As a process, authenticity inheres in the resonance between configurations of the Self and all elements of the analytic field. The opposite of the authenticity process is the Compulsion to Repeat. The factors determining these processes are the presence or lack of curiosity, spontaneity, empathy, sincerity, lies, tenderness, a temporal dimension of the process, the quantity of the elements in the field, etc. The outcomes of the authenticity process are the infinite variety of possible configurations of falsity or truth, insofar as the narcissistic interests of the subjects prevail or do not in the process. Finally, authentic phenomena arise from the somatic, sensorial, iconic and presymbolic communication register.
