摘要
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) data and "the national disease burden and cost-effectiveness study" depression is the 4th cause of disease burden in Turkey. During the last 20 years, prescription of antidepressants has risen dramatically in many western countries due to higher number of prescriptions of SSRIs and newer antidepressants, which have progressively become the most commonly prescribed antidepressants. SSRIs are generally better tolerated than tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), and there is evidence that they work through similar mechanisms. In this article, we will examine the latest systematic reviews and meta-analyses comparing effectiveness and tolerability of antidepressants.
