The purpose of the paper is to research a new CDIO mode combined with "the union of manufacturing, learning and research"(UMLR), for improving the quality of engineering education. The methods of practice include the CDIO educational scheme and procedure for the specialty of biomedicine engineering in CUIT. The ingenious educational scheme is combined with the union of manufacturing, learning and research. The education procedure is carried out with a special project. The new harvest in the international education reformations and the testing indexes of the CDIO projects are researched. The practice results demonstrated that the CDIO education mode based on the UMLR and project is excellent and innovative. With the mode, the creativity, best studying methods, application abilities, harmonization and resourcefulness of students are upgraded. The conclusion is that the educational CDIO mode based on UMLR and project is an innovative mode.
