摘要
This paper discuss the use of the FPGA as a controller of a DC-DC boost converter, the goal of this paper is to build a controller that is capable of controlling the output current of a photovoltaic cells and minimize the effect of the boost converter chaotic behavior on the output voltage. The paper also presents a MATLAB simulation of the system to evaluate and study the effect of the duty cycle on the boost converter current, the simulation also concerned with the chaotic behavior of that current. To achieve this goal this paper presents two different methods, which is to let the FPGA control the duty cycle or the frequency of the output controlling signal, both of these techniques are done through software (FPGA code). This paper presents some mixed results, one of these techniques have achieved the desired result, while the other still needs some improvement. Thus, this paper shows the FPGA capabilities in the power industry and it's specifies a guideline to overcome some of the obstacles when dealing with an FPGA as a boost converter controller.
