BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION IN FEMALE FOOTBALL

In recent years, the role of women in football has changed radically. The aim of this study was to analyse scientific production in women's football. The PRISMA methodology was used. A bibliographic search was made in Web of Science using the descriptors "soccer" or "football" and "female" or "women". 296 articles met the inclusion criteria, and the following variables, among others, were analysed: 1) Year of publication; 2) Journal; 3) Country; 4) Number of authors; 5) Play position; 6) Sample sports level; 7) Sample size; 8) Subject area; 9) Main discipline; 10) Type of study; 11) Statistical analysis. The results indicate a considerable increase in scientific production in the last 5 years. Training and sports medicine studies predominate. Most studies focus on senior high performance, while only 15% of studies are conducted in formative football. Descriptive studies predominate over experimental studies. The results reveal a greater role for women in football, which also has an impact on the further development of scientific production.
