In order to improve the removal efficiencies of pollutants, to mitigate the membrane fouling, attapulgite as aid for ceramic membrane microfiltration of polluted river water was performed. The results of filtration tests show that the membrane fouling decreased and the permeate flux and quality was increased with the attapulgite adder. When the dosage of attapulgite is 0.6g/L, the removal rates are 75% for COD, 96% for TP, 99% for turbidity, respectively. The efficiency is better than that of single microfiltration under the same dosage. The permeate flux was 65% greater than that attapulgite was not used, and the flux was 230L/(m(2).h) at transmembrane pressure of 0.10MPa and crossflow velocity of 5m/s. And the permeate can be reused under very safe conditions.
