Analysis of the International Trends of Research and Development Efficiency

The article presents the comparative and correlational analysis of the science and technological indicators of the leading and emerging countries. Modern science and technology systems of G7 and BRICS countries have gone through several changes through the last decade that include the development of infrastructure, new scientific and technological policies and regulatory frameworks. The presented analysis is based on comparison of retrospective trends of main science indicators since 2000. During this study several research methods have been applied, including system analysis, statistics and econometrical analysis. Several expert methods of the analysis were used to evaluate the level of research and development performance indicators. This article represents the fact that in the context of building an innovative economy basing on the achievements of science the BRICS countries made a breakthrough in the growth rate of researchers, that ensured the accelerated development of science and economy.
