摘要：

The holotype of the Middle Devonian camerate crinoid Hexacrinites crispus (QUENSTEDT, 1861) is redescribed and new illustrations proved a clearer definition of this important taxon. It was one of the first hexacrinitids described from the historical fossil locality "Muhlenwaldchen", westernmost Gerolstein (Gerolstein syncline, Eifel-Hills, Rhenish Slate Massif, westernmost Germany). The valid description of H. crispus by QUENSTEDT (1861) is frequently disregarded by introducing younger synonyms as well as the incorrect subspecific association with clearly derived hexacrinitids. The homonym "Hexacrinites crispus" sensu DUBATOLOVA (1964) is renamed as H. prokopi nomen novum.
