摘要
Lithium-ion battery cathode materials are layered with complexity. In this issue of Joule, Tian and coworkers probe NMC622 (LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2) oxide interfacial and bulk behavior in a comparative study of chemical versus electrochemical (de)lithiated processed samples. Spatially resolved nickel oxidation state mapping reveals flaws in particle charge state homogeneity, both locally in the bulk and at the surface.
