Relocating the manufacturing facility

lit 1999, Universal Avionics Systems Corporation (UASC) moved a small electronics manufacturing facility from Redmond, Washington to a new 65,000 sq. foot facility in Tucson, Arizona. In addition to the 1,632-mile physical relocation, UASC transformed its operations from a batch A-it operation to a completely in-line, and mostly automated, process. Today, UASC is the number one manufacturer of flight management systems for business class airplanes. Relocating a manufacturing facility is much more involved than calling the movers and backing up the trucks. You cannot afford to lose anything in your transition but it can also be a time for making process improvements and changes to your line. All it takes is some careful planning and preparation.
