The Return of the Master in Post-Politics Times

Nowadays, we are witnessing the emergence of a social and political order based on the repression of politics and the denial of collective subjectivities that have played a leading role in the history of citizenship. In this new order, the operation of the master signifier as subjection of the subject of the unconscious to the structure is questioned, denying the causality and the effects of its discourse in the social bond. However, although it is denied in the post- ideological public discourse, the effects of the master's discourse can be seen at its real dimension, through forms of violence that exceed the social capacity to manage it in a consensual democracy. This suggests the need that society redefine its relationship with the enjoyment of politics, from ethics, to locate possible solutions to social violence.
