In this paper will be addressed the problem of maternity leave in the labor market in Kosovo. The objective of this paper is to ascertain the effects of maternity leave in the labor market, as well as to see how the maternity leave impact in the labor market. The motives for addressing this problem flow from the situation in the country's economic transition. Maternity leave is a basic human right. Five years ago, a new labor law entered into force in Kosovo, specifying maternity leave. The realization of this right encounters many difficulties, particularly in private businesses. One of the difficulties associated with kindergarten is how to find the site, as well as a reasonable price. Such difficulties are derived from the economic situation because the market is very inconstant and uncertain, and face numerous other problems. This has led to an increased labor law violations, discrimination against women in the private sector, particularly regarding the right of maternity leave. Representatives of the private businesses have filed a request to change the law regarding maternity leave in a manner to not have a budgetary burden. The methodology of accomplishing this objective will be done through empirical approach, meaning, by exploring the data, facts, statistics and different interviews. All of them will of course be interpreted, to conclude the extent of maternity leave affect to the labor market in Kosovo, what are the consequences and what can be done to improve the situation.
