摘要
Noise has always been a part of the papermaking process, however it is only recently that noise has become an environmental issue. Botany Mill has been in existence for nearly 100 years and over that time the mill has complied with noise requirements of the day. The more stringent requirements of the present day require Botany Mill to continue to implement strategies that reduce noise. This paper shows how noise limitations have changed by interaction with mill neighbours. Techniques of present day measurements, including continuous noise measurement and noise contour maps, are discussed together with how to carry out these measurements at your mill. Presently unresolved problems ale described together with some measurements that identify the nature of the problem and some possible solutions.
