Reflection anisotropy spectroscopy of the Pd/Au(110)-(1x2) surface alloy

摘要
We investigate the optical reflectance anisotropy (RA) of the surface alloy created by depositing Pd onto the Au(110)-(1x2) surface. Scanning tunneling microscopy and low-energy electron diffraction are used to correlate atomic structure to the RA response. Significant changes in the RA response of Au(110)-(1x2) are observed upon surface alloying and upon the formation of a Pd overlayer on top of the mixed Pd-Au interface.
