Effects of air pollution on changes in the polar fox (Alopex lagopus) organism

The study was carried out to determine the influence of gaseous pollutants released from fur-bearing animal farms on some organs of polar foxes. The control group was comprised of animals caged in a pavillion system, while the treatment group was comprised of the offspring of these animals which kept in areas of restricted air movement. Specimens of the following internal organs were used for histopathology examinations: liver, lungs, kidneys, trachea, bronchial tubes, nucleus, ovary, uterus, and brain from both experimental groups. Significant histopathological changes were detected in the liver and kidneys of both examined groups and in the lungs if the animals kept in the closed areas. No morphological changes were recorded in the remaining organs.
