摘要
The article reviews the reports delivered at the International Conference Griboyedov and His Epoch dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the writer, musician and diplomat's birth and the 25th anniversary of the Aleksandr Griboedov Museum. The event was organised by the Griboyedov State Historical, Cultural and Nature Museum Preserve Khmelita and the M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences and held on January 15-17, 2020, in the village of Khmelita, Vyazemsky District, Smolensk Oblast. The anniversary conference reflected modern trends and summarised certain results in Griboyedov studies, gave particular consideration to the issues of his heritage reception both in Russia and abroad, of the development of the related translation tradition, of the study of his contemporaries' biographies, and of historical and cultural contexts of the epoch. The thematic scope of the conference was broad so that topics would span the 19th-century Russian studies spectrum from research on Griboyedov to translation traditions and wide historical and cultural contexts. Many of the reports resulted from studies of materials and sources that had not previously been objects of special consideration. Thoughts for future research and demand for establishing the fate of the documents that were in Griboyedov's possession in the last days of his life were shared at the plenary and breakout sessions. In this regard, further search (primarily in the historical archives of Iran and the UK) was resolved to be imperatively required. New major projects of the anniversary year related to popularising Griboyedov and his heritage were also brought for discussion. One of them, A Bow to Griboyedov, united largest museums of Russia, public and cultural organisations, cultural and art professionals, and allowed creating a series of exhibitions that reveal Griboyedov's personality and his activities through such prisms as the events of the 1812 Patriotic War, relations between Russia and the East, Russian diplomacy in general, and the antinomies of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The participants of the conference were literary scholars, linguists, historians, museologists, cultural studies scholars, local history experts representing numerous regions of Russia ( the cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Kostroma, Saratov, Tver, Tomsk; Stavropol Krai, Bryansk, Vladimir, Vologda, Lipetsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, and Smolensk Oblasts), as well as guests from Belarus, the UK, Iran, Italy, the USA, and Ukraine. All abstracts are available on the organisers' websites (khmelita. com; imli.ru). The conference started Griboyedov's anniversary year that is widely celebrated in Russia and beyond, and is a particularly notable event in the Smolensk region. The conference will raditionally result in publishing a new issue of Khmelitsky Sbornik [Khmelita Proceedings].
