A PLEA FOR BIBLIOGRAPHY ON THE HISTORY OF JEWS IN BOHEMIA, MORAVIA AND SILESIA

A Bibliography of the History of the Jews in the countries of the Wenceslas crown is a painful desideratum. A correspondent work exists only on Silesia, the work on Prague by Otto Muneles now inadequate and outdated. Three institutions, the Zidovske Muzeum in Prague, the Spolecnost pro dejiny zidu v Ceske republice in Brno and the Collegium Carolinum in Munich work currently with different priorities, selection criteria and intensity on bibliographies of this theme. Only the bibliography of the Collegium Carolinum is accessible on the Internet, the other two are intended only for internal use within both institutions at the moment. The field of Hebrew print and Israeli publications has remained largely ignored so far. It would be necessary to combine these various existing activities and to work according to uniform criteria. An examination of all recorded items, including the widely scattered number of papers in journals, seems an inevitable requirement in this context.
