Crystal structure of scandium sulfates Sc2(SO4)3•5H2O, (C{NH2}3)3[Sc(SO4)3]•3H2O, and [H3N{CH2}6NH3][Sc(H2O)2(SO4)2]2•2H2O

摘要
The reactions of Sc-2(SO4)(3) (.) 5H(2)O (I) with Organic cations yielded the complexes (C{NH2}(3))(3)[Sc(SO4)(3)] (.) 3H(2)O (II) and [H3N{CH2}(6)NH3][Sc(H2O)(2)(SO4)(2)](2) (.) 2H(2)O (III), which were studied by X-ray diffraction. The crystals of I are triclinic, space group P (1) over bar a = 5.6315(5) Angstrom, b = 11.5536(11) Angstrom, c = 10.9469(9) Angstrom, alpha = 90.49(2)degrees, beta = 99.41(2)degrees, gamma = 89.63(2)degrees; those of II are trigonal, space group R (3) over bar, a = 19.3143(18) Angstrom, c = 9.5416(15) Angstrom; and the crystals of III are monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c, a = 5.1125(7) Angstrom, b = 10.3803(9) Angstrom, c = 23.739(2) Angstrom, beta = 94.52(2)degrees. Using II and III as examples, it was demonstrated that the composition and structure of the polymeric anionic chains of scandium sulfate are determined by the nature of the organic cation rather than by the composition of the reaction mixture.
