摘要：
The paper focuses on the identification of the role of start-up businesses in the social-economic development of regions. Despite these businesses are small in size, their role in the economy is of much greater value. The aim of this paper is to specify this role using selected indicators and further to carry on the quantification of this role for particular EU regions on the NUTS 0 level.
