摘要
Queries are the primary means of the translating a Web user's information needs in a way that Web systems can process. Web queries are as varied as the range of human interest areas, including sexual information seeking. A portion of Web queries is sexually related. The study of sexually related queries can provide insightful into human sexual information-seeking behavior for use by Web system developers. We extracted 116,050 sexually related queries from a query log of 1,025,910 Excite users queries. We found that many aspects, sexual and non-sexually-related queries exhibit significant differences, in terms of duration of the session, analysis of the results of each query, and search term usage. Implications of the findings are discussed.
