The Steiglitz-Mcbride type adaptive IIR algorithm for active noise control was discussed. The algorithm can guarantee global convergence and was robust to measurement noise, if an uncorrelated reference signal is available. It was found that the IIR filters can reduced the computational complexity of the algorithms. It was also observed that when the reference signal is correlated the IIR algorithms may fail to guarantee global convergence.
