The results of the surveys on hackers in the UK are analyzed within the realms of crime. The Audit Commission for England and Wales conducted these surveys and which classified computer abuse under the following headings: fraud, includes unauthorized alteration of input, alteration of computerized data, alteration/misuse of program, destruction/suppression/misappropriation of output; theft, which includes data, software, computer facilities, unauthorized private work, but does not include theft of hardware; and hacking, constitutes unauthorized access to data and computer facilities, and sabotage of facilities.
