Optical CDMA-based passive optical network using arrayed-waveguide-grating

摘要
One compact spectral-amplitude-coding optical code-division multiple access system for passive optical network is presented. With the cyclic property of arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) routers and the partially cyclic property of the modified m-sequence codes, the transmitter use two AWG routers and one fiber Bragg grating to generate each user's normal and complementary codeword, thus the optical line terminal require simpler hardware for complementary encoding. In the optical network unit of each user also shares decoding devices in a similar way and multiple-access interference (MAI) is eliminated. Thus complementary coding is accomplished with cheap and simple configuration and the system performance is improved as compared to previous proposed SAC systems.
