A rerouting strategy for handoff on ATM-based transport network

摘要
As cellular network architecture evolves, FPLMTS based on ATM transport network will accommodate small cells such as micro/pico cell. However, due to frequent handoffs on the small cells, reconnection setup delay and the number of preestablished connections for the seamless handoff may be increased. To reduce the number of pre-established connections, this paper proposes an adaptive dynamic rerouting scheme which uses network resource effectively by minimizing the number of pre-established connections. Also it can minimize handoff delay by using a few pre-established connection. In this scheme, to predict the handoff probability of MT, a new cell architecture is devised. We conclude by comparing the proposed rerouting scheme to the existing schemes in the literature.
