Problems of Sustainable Development of Public Forests in the Czech Republic

The topic of this paper is closely related to the so-called 3rd pillar of sustainable development, which is the protection of the environment, and it deals with the issue of the state of forests in the Czech Republic from the point of view of the public. The aim of the paper is to describe and evaluate attitudes in forest perception by citizens in the Czech Republic. Primary data for the research was obtained through a questionnaire research survey that was conducted in 2018 and 784 respondents took part in it. The questions concerned forests, opinions on threats to forests, respondents' interest to learn more about conditions of forests, etc. The evaluated data was subsequently reflected and compared with the results of similar studies. The results showed that the opinions of the Czech lay public correspond with a global trend in perceiving the importance of forests in protecting the environment and fighting climate change.
