摘要
Pulse width modulation (PWM) is basis of operation of an inverter. This paper proposes various hybrid PWM techniques based on sine pulse width modulation (SPWM) for multilevel inverter. The top and bottom most carriers in case of hybrid SPWM (HSPWM1) are considered to be a rectified sine signals which are compared with a sinusoidal reference of fundamental frequency. In HSPWM2 the inverted rectified sine waves are considered in place of rectified sine waves from HSPWM1. A comparative study between conventional SPWM, HSPWM1 and HSPWM2 in terms of fundamental RMS voltage and THD is performed. It is evident that HSPWM2 has minimum THD and more fundamental voltage compared to conventional SPWM.
